SolarSPELL (Solar Powered Educational Learning Library), a project of Arizona State University (ASU), creates offline digital libraries that deliver educational resources to communities with little or no internet access. Through our partnership, B2R Farms Fellows are using SolarSPELL to extend the reach of conservation agriculture across Rwanda. ASU’s research shows that conservation agriculture alone boosts maize yields by 47.5% over traditional practices. When combined with SolarSPELL, yields increase even further and Fellows are able to train 2.5x more farmers. With access to the digital library, a farmer can train an average of 108 peers, compared to just 43 without it.We are excited to continue growing this partnership and multiplying our impact across Rwanda.
